Children’s “go-to” menu item is also a staple for area food banks, so the Millers Foundation hosts an annual Peanut Butter and Jelly drive at Virginia Millers stores.
Stores throughout Virginia collect donated jars of peanut butter and jelly for local area food banks each October through Thanksgiving Day. “A lot of customers buy other non-perishables to donate and we’re happy to take those too,” says Brenda Heintz from the Miller’s on London Bridge Road in Virginia Beach.
At the end of the food drive, items are donated to five local food banks in Southeastern Virginia, the Peninsula, Central Virginia, Fredericksburg and the Capital Region.
Day of Service
The Foundation was created in January 2004 as an organized system through which the Miller family of Miller Oil Company could help local charities. Originally, the foundation supported mostly charities that served children’s needs; however, as its giving has grown, the foundation now supports a diverse group of interests.
